KAYAKER'S COVE
WILDERNESS HOSTEL
KAYAKER'S COVE -
Depart by sea kayak OR by water taxi (at additional cost )to Kayakers Cove). After gearing up and doing a little stretch to loosen up our bodies before paddle. Paddle past water falls, alpine glaciers, abundant sea life, and scenic snow covered mountains. Stop along the way and break for hot drinks, snacks and sight seeing opportunities. This paddle will also include lunches while paddling to our destination and on the return paddle to Seward.
We see whales sometimes on this trip and sometimes observe more that one type. We paddle past bird rookeries and view the Stellar Sea Lions haul out from a safe and prudent distance.
Hiking is a nice option that is sometimes chosen by our guests, hiking up the trail that originates at the rear of the hostel lodge we will hike up a fern and moss laden trail up to a rocky saddle that overlooks the cape. This trail is a moderate hike and we recommend that anyone hiking the trail carry hydration and be in reasonable physical condition for this moderate hike. If not sure check with a physician!
Kayakers Location:
Kayakers Cove is a wilderness hostel located approx. 11 mi. South of Seward, Alaska. It is very near Eldorado Narrows in Resurrection Bay. We can provide guide service to hostel guests that are staying at the hostel. This is one of the key destinations in Resurrection Bay
Food infromation
Relax or join in preparing meals, depending on the time of the year, we do pick blue berries that grow wild right outside of the lodge and add them to our pancakes at breakfast or our oatmeal depending on your meal selections. We often cook home style hearty meals, and share our backcountry recipes as we cook. We often cook popcorn in the evening as we enjoy the social life that always occurs in a place like this. Meet others from all over the globe, and share their stories and experiences.

Aialik Bay offers a variety of glacier types and sizes and all are beautiful in their own way. The trip by water taxi to our kayak beach is a adventure in its own right. It is normal to see Humpbacks, Orcas, Goats, Puffins, and Bears as we travel though the waters between Seward and Aialik Bay. These trips depart our office at approx. 7:30 am (times will be confirmed in Confirmation) per the water taxi captains. We are normally dropped off on one of the beaches and boats are packed and a stretch is done before we start our paddle. Some of the beaches that are visited are Holgate, Abra Cove, Aialik, McMullen, Pedersen, and more.
Normally the paddle will break for lunch at a location with a glacier backdrop to enhance the meal in only a way it can be done here. Loud sounds of crashing ice and large booms resembling thunder from glacier movement fill the air as well as the sounds of the ocean and the abundant wildlife that shares this land. The paddle will terminate at the selected camping beach and the set up for the nights lodging in tents will commence as the guide prepares the dinner for the evening.
A delicious dinner will be shared and maybe a small fire on the beach (tidal area) will be initiated for early evening social setting. All food will have been stored in approved food containers by this time. Your guide will share backcountry tips and Leave No Trace information with the group to make our visit a footprint free experience.
Our guides are fun loving individuals that love to share stories and experience the never ending humorous experiences that occur with most kayaking and camping adventures.

Northwestern Fjord is one of the least visited parts of the Kenai Fjords National Park but also is one of the most interesting geological areas that we know of. It is a rugged newly exposed raw expanse of Ice, snow covered mountains, and uniquely beautiful landscapes that include glaciers, ice fields and wildlife.
Orcas are a frequent visitors to the waters here and provide amazing sights when they do appear. Harbor seals are always showing up in their stealthy and curios manner.
Join our small groups of campers and kayakers as we explore the many sights and sounds of this amazing land.
With our fully guided trips we provide all camping gear including sleeping bags and ground pads if needed. Also we provide gloves and rubber boots for additional comfort while kayaking and hiking in this wilderness area.
