Be Advised - We recommend a marine VHF radio, Spot emergency beacon, or cell phone for Resurrection Bay!
Cell phones must be protected from salt water if used for emergency use while kayaking in the bay.
NO CELL PHONE COVERAGE IN BEAR GLACIER & LIMITED VHF RADIO COVERAGE FROM INSIDE BEAR GLACIER LAKE. (We recommend satellite phone for this area, this is what we use here!)
Hand held marine VHF radios are line of sight use and if you are in a cove, or around an obstruction they will not be reliable until you get out into open waters free of obstructions. In Aialik Bay and Nortwestern Fjord most comunication is between other kayakers, tour boats, fishing vessels when emergencies arise. To summon help we
feel like the Spot tracker or Satellite phone will be the most reliable technologies available. The Kenai Fjords National Park Rangers moniter channel 16 on the VHF radio. If you are not familiar with the operation and procedures of using the VHF marine radio or Satellite phone, please ask us to assist you with understanding how they work before you depart for the wilderness. We can and will provide valuable useful information that may end up saving you from a disasterous experience. This is how we roll.

All rental gear customers must sign our Acknowledgement of Risk and Assumption of Risk and Liability waiver for any and all gear rentals or trips. Printable PFD Copy  No Exceptions can be made!

All kayak & canoe rental participants should be proficient at performing self rescues using a paddle float technique before participating in any self guided kayaking activity!
